This 6” x 20” limestone artifact has a groove around the entire circumference which channeled a leather strap to drive an auxiliary wood turning or other such tool. These were often added to the main shaft of a grist mill to help reduce the “rumble” of the mill action. This example has some chipping and is priced accordingly.
