This is an incredibly beautiful artifact of the horse and wagon days. It is the tail gate for a heavy duty work wagon. Measures 26” x 44”, retains its original paint and carved wooden handle. The two iron latches connected to the wagons side boards.

Made in Westerly, Rhode Island in 1958. Has developed a vintage look with a crusty finish as shown. High quality Chippendale brasses. Constructed in mahogany. Measurements are true to the period: base measures 20”Deep x 38-1/2” Width, top measures 18-1/2” deep x 35” wide. Overall height is 69”.

I bought this gem about 35 years ago from a seven generation estate in Ashford, Connecticut. The classic turned spindles and board "make-do" seat are an extreme pleasure to look at. This is "right as rain" as they say with a wonderful patina. The chair measures 13-1/2" w   x   12" deep and stands 21-1/2" tall. The seat height is 6-3/4".
