Antique Stone

19th Century Granite Wheelwright Jig Stone

This is a museum quality blacksmith and wheelwright utilitarian artifact. The color and patina is very warm and attractively pleasing. This particular stone is unusual in that most wheelwright jigs were 18”-24” in thickness. This one measures in at 8”-10” thickness X 6’ diameter with a 16” diameter hub hole. The stone is dish shaped to accommodate the assembly of wagon wheels. It was most recently set up as a yard feature, which was constantly utilized as beckoning seating. These are RARE to be offered for private sale. This is only the third one that we have obtained in over 30 years of pursuit. Originally from an unknown exact Massachusetts locale.
